LANDSHAPES

I settled on the words 'Landshapes' as an umbrella title for this developing body of work, the images produced are combination of Landscapes and Abstact Shapes produced through a specific form of double exposures created in-camera. By rotating the camera 180 degrees for the second exposure of the frame, abstract forms a revealed within the topographies and ecologies. This process developed as a kind of meditation of place, to center myself in the present moment in place I look for shapes and forms that lend themselves to this type of composition, when I find it I stop and spend 10- 30 mins exploring the shapes, centers of rotations and focus points often coming away with 5 to 10 variations. Later in when editing in Lightroom, I use a black and white preset I've devloped that gives a good tonal range and consistant look to the series, each images gets some individual adjustmenst as well.

I began this series amongst the iconic land forms and flora of Lutruwita/Tasmania and am now appling them to my current environments of South Island New Zealand  - Te Wai Pounamu.
